Audrey Leishman, the wife of Warrnambool golfer Marc Leishman, has regained consciousness after being admitted to hospital.Audrey Leishman, the wife of Australian golfer Marc, has regained consciousness and her condition has taken a positive turn but the Victorian is no closer to being a starter at the Masters.

Audrey Leishman was admitted to hospital on March 31 after a visit to urgent care near their Virginia Beach home found some severe infections, with the mother-of-two being placed in an induced coma to fight the issues.

With an outpouring of support coming from all over the globe it appears things are looking up.

“My wife, Audrey, was admitted to the hospital with signs of gastroenteritis and pneumonia,” Marc said in a statement.

“Her condition has improved since arriving at the hospital and she is resting comfortably.

“We appreciate the outpouring of support and thank you for your well wishes.

“At this time, my family and I request privacy so we can focus on Audrey’s care.”

The couple have two young boys, three-year-old Harvey and 18-month old Oliver.

The one-time US tour winner is still committed to being by his wife’s side, putting his place at Augusta National in jeopardy.

While no formal decision has been made and Leishman could effectively wait until a Friday (Australian time) tee time to withdraw, a spokesman from the Leishman camp confirmed Marc is 100 per cent focused on Audrey.

Leishman, 31, was the US PGA tour rookie of the year in 2009 and won his lone title at the 2012 Greater Hartford Open.

The Victorian was tied fourth at Augusta in 2013 when Adam Scott won Australia’s first green jacket, holding the opening round lead.

He also led the tournament early in the second round in 2014 before dropping 10 shots in 12 holes to miss the cut. AAP
